Supporting Parents
Nurturing and Empowering Your Child
I work with parents to support children who stutter, with a focus on creating a communication environment that reduces pressure and builds confidence over time.
Many parents are unsure how to respond in the moment—whether to wait, step in, encourage, or protect. Therapy offers clear guidance so you can respond in ways that support your child without increasing tension or self-consciousness.
Together, we focus on:
How to respond during moments of disfluency
How to talk about stuttering in a supportive way
Supporting participation at home, school, and with peers
Building your child’s self-advocacy skills across settings
We also support your child emotionally—responding to frustration, helping them make sense of their experiences, and encouraging participation even when communication feels difficult. This helps children stay engaged and develop a greater sense of agency in their communication.
